Nomad has won the Canon Prize for Innovative Photojournalism,

On Sunday the Canon Prize for Innovative Photojournalism was awarded to Jeroen Toirkens, author of Nomad, for the best example of photojournalism completed in 2011.

The award is described:

"The winner of this prestigious prize will be a pioneer: an innovating figure who exploits the technological resources of today to achieve advances in the practice of photojournalism. The winning project will be a multimedia production in which photographs are combined with sound and/or video. It may feature a linear narrative or be interactive in nature. The jury will look for a project in which the multimedia aspect (internet, audio and/or video) is of the essence, although it may well be supported by traditional media like books, exhibitions, or features in newspapers and magazines. The jury will shortlist three entries. The eventual winner will receive a prize of EUR 5000 and each of the two runners-up a prize of EUR 1250"

Peter Blake designs Brit Award trophy

Sir Peter Blake, renowned British designer and icon in the music business, has been commissioned to redesign 2012’s Brit Awards Statuette.

In taking the gauntlet from last year’s designer, Dame Vivienne Westwood, it is clear that the event’s organisers are choosing designers with not just an iconic style, but whose designs are synonymous with the British music scene. Sir Peter’s previous creations for British music artists have included covers for The Beatles, Oasis and Paul Weller.

The actual design of the statuette will be under wraps until the awards show in February, but in an interview with the BBC, Sir Peter has revealed that it will feature his ‘signature’ symbols– the star, heart, half a rainbow and a target. Brits chairman David Joseph has called the design ‘incredible’.

ACC’s Peter Blake is part of our award-winning design series. You can read the BBC’s article and listen to Sir Peter’s interview with BBC Radio 5 Live here.
